Shot Composition

L/O: To understand the basic rules of shot composition.

The Rule Of Thirds

The rule of thirds makes images interesting because it focusing on something in a certain area and fits more into the image.

These don't use the rule of thirds because they are focusing on the person and not the background.

Photographing people

  • Looking Room
  • Head Room
  • Eye Level
  • Center Dominant Eye

peer assessed by Kian

WWW: You followed the rules correctly.

NTT: To look further to your side.

I like these photos and think they are well composed because of the camera perspective, and the way the bottom one is B&W and the top one doesn't use much colour.

What is Media?

Monday 12th September 2016

L/O: To define what media is and how it impacts upon our lives.

Definition: "The main means of mass communication"

Types of Media:
Social Media
Vlogs
Blogs
Advertising
TV
Radio
Magazines
Email
Newspaper
Texting
Websites

The main purpose of media is to make money

Media Influence

Media influences me because I get inspired by YouTubers to do things in the future and learn a lot from watching certain videos.

Media is powerful because people just believe what they see and don't think that it could be fake or lies, people therefore share it and more and more people believe it and it becomes a trend.

People could just say one lie on social media and people will start to share it and believe it and then when someone denies it then it's too late and people won't stop believing. A lot of media is based on lies because if someone lies saying they have some expensive shoes when they actually don't then it will get a lot of shares, likes and views, and more people will believe it.

"The media is neutral/unbiased"
I feel that this is true, but only at certain times. Many people have their own opinion and can make decisions for themselves but some people just believe everything they see and agree. People in the media usually have their own opinion but their opinion is based towards or off of someone else's opinion.

"The main purpose of media is entertainment"
This isn't true. Media is done simply for money or for people to believe what you want them to believe. Many YouTubers for example have a lot of false advertising and fake thumbnails to get more views and therefore get more money.
