The masthead of this magazine is in bold, 3D writing that is sans serif to show the bold strength of the people who read the magazine, it is aimed more towards men due to it being large and dragging in mens attention from the manliness.
The blue, red and yellow colours on this magazine are more male-orientated colours, the blue signifies the gender of male, the red would signify blood or honour, the yellow would signify royalty, all of these are stereotypically values that are important to men.
The layout of this magazine is very cramped but does not go over the star's face, but filling up every other space available. It has high production value due to it being able to advertise and be payed by a lot of artists, making it cheaper to produce and being able to reach more people.
The main image is a medium shot to be able to fit all of the details and writing of the magazine on to the cover, but to still be able to recognise Dave Grohl from a distance. Dave Grohl has a serious facial expression, suggesting the topic about him in this magazine is also a serious topic. There is very standard lighting that brightens up his face and his details. He is wearing casual clothing, suggesting that he is not in the magazine for a special reason. There is also the minor image of the CD case, showing the community of the songs on the CD.
Dave Grohl's cover lines suggests that he is talking about a very emotional and serious topic, being backed up by the last point I made.

The star on this image is represented as a strong woman that is going against the gender stereotype. On the T-Shirt she is wearing it is showing some adjectives you would use to describe someone from a country that is in political and social crisis, but at the bottom on the one that is not crossed out it has an adjective that would more describe someone who is strong and adventurous rather than weak and in need. She very much goes against the stereotype of a foreign person and looks stereotypically richer than someone that you would expect to be from a poorer country. She looks very relaxed rather than frightened or angered, showing that she is going against the stereotype of a confused foreigner.

On this magazine cover Snoop Dogg is being represented as a rich man with a big house. This is shown by him expressing himself in a relaxed way, this represents the stereotype of a rich guy. He is wearing a chain and some rather dapper looking Christmas clothing, showing that he is rich enough to not care what people think of his clothes and accessories, this also shows the stereotype of being rich. He is holding his candy cane as if he were smoking it, following the stereotype of a rather hip gangster, it could also be interpreted as if he feels good due to the mild look of a smile on his face, showing that he feels young and good.

MOJO Cover:

  • The cover is coloured blue which is stereotyped towards men as the more masculine colour.
  • Dave Grohl is in fact male and has a hardened face, which is less attractive to females but more attractive in a male fan's perspective due to the fact that he looks strong and bold.
  • The font is big and appeals more to a masculine female-orientated man due to the fact that it is large and can be seen as masculine.
  • There are no females on this magazine which would show the masculinity of the magazine
I have learnt about the different types of stereotypes today that show men as stronger and women as weaker, some people could find this as sexist which also adds to the predominant fact that males are more attracted to the magazines orientated to them and vice versa.
